About Nick Moghaddam
Nick Moghaddam is a highly accomplished martial artist and coach. Before diving into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he had a successful football career. In high school, Nick was a key player and team captain for Newport Harbor High’s back-to-back CIF championship appearances in 1999 and 2000. He then played at Orange Coast College from 2001-2003, earning a full scholarship to Division I East Carolina University, where he competed as a defensive lineman. Football instilled in him the work ethic, competitive mindset, and physical conditioning that became the foundation for his success in MMA and Jiu-Jitsu. Nick’s MMA journey began in 2005 when he started training under renowned instructor Allan Goes. He quickly transitioned into competition, fighting in several prominent MMA promotions, including Bellator MMA, King of the Cage, and Gladiator Challenge. His experience in MMA, particularly his extensive training in Muay Thai with WBC champion Sot Chitalada (2007-2010) and wrestling under NCAA champion Mark Munoz (2011-2015), heavily influenced his jiu-jitsu style. His striking skills and superior takedowns and submissions set him apart in the Jiu-Jitsu world. In 2012, Nick was awarded his black belt from Allan Goes. Since then, he has continued competing at the highest levels of the sport, earning multiple prestigious titles, including the 2024 No Gi American National Champion title. Nick is currently ranked 4th in the world in the IBJJF No Gi Ultra Heavy division and 25th pound-for-pound in No Gi across all black belts. In 2015, Nick founded Carlson Gracie Anaheim. His passion for both Jiu-Jitsu and MMA drives his school, where he continues to share his knowledge and experience with students, shaping the next generation of martial artists.
